Newport Gwent Dragons Assistant Regional Coach
Job Purpose
Answerable to the Head coach and in turn the Chief Executive to provide specific strategic development, management and coaching of the Newport Gwent Dragons team and players as they pertain to the playing aspects of the game in order to develop and improve the players (with specific responsibility for the backs) and the playing in environment with the aim of producing a consistently winning team.
Requirements
Preferably a WRU Level four or equivalent coach, the applicant should have a thorough knowledge and experience of professional rugby and specifically back line play.
The candidate will be responsible for the organisation and development of an effective back line unit so as to compliment team patterns of play.
There will be the need to offer a sound understanding of the trends and techniques conducive to the modern professional game.
The coach will be required to develop individuals and units within the team environment through the organisation and implementation of training sessions that will enhance player skills, understanding and implementation of these skills techniques for the benefit of the team.
The individual will have to work effectively with the other Dragons coaches and support staff and play a key role in team planning and preparation on a match, competition and season basis. This involvement to include having a role in team selection, analysis of the opposition and long term player recruitment / development.
To assist in the specific monitoring feedback and appraisals of the Dragons players.
To work with the head coach to develop players and coaches from within the academy and semi professional clubs with in the Dragons region.
