The Dragons threw wide open the race for a place in the final of the WRU Age Grade Championship by beating the Blues at the Welfare Ground, Newbridge last night.

Having won only one of their previous games this season, the hosts produced their best display of the season, to ease themselves to within touching distance of the league leaders.

Flanker Grant Rogers and lock and captain Tom Crandon crossed for tries with scrum half Adam Jones kicking five points in his side’s 15-3 victory over the Blues.

Diggy Bird bagged the only points of the evening for the Blues, although it took a wonderful collective effort from the Dragons to keep the Blues at bay in the final quarter.

Dragons Team manager Billy Vyvian said; “ We are absolutely delighted with the win. We deserved to win and hopefully, this will be the victory which drives us on to greater things.
