Magners Magic from Phil Dollman

When Phillip Dollman touched down for the Newport Gwent Dragons forth try in the 20th minute against reigning champions Leinster at Rodney Parade last weekend, the quickest try bonus point of the season of the Magners League was scored.

The young centre from Caerphilly who made his twenty-first Dragons appearance when the region clinched a spectacular win over the Magners League Champions said:

“Scoring the quickest try bonus point of the season on Friday certainly reflects the pace of the game and the excitement of beating the Magners League champions in front of a home crowd to end the season.

“I speak for all the boys when I say it was fantastic game and we were definitely up for the challenge following a win over Ospreys just days earlier. It’s been a tough season for the Dragon, but a perfect end which sets the standard for our return next season.”

Two other Dragons players made a dent in the Magners League history this season, with Adam Black and Andrew Hall celebrating the 100 league games mark just last month.

Paul Turner is determined to be very competitive when the Dragons regroup after the summer period inline with the development of the region. He added:

“I’m pleased with the way the region has been developing but am always conscious that winning is always the main reason we play this game. I’d like to thank our supporters again for sticking with us and trying to make this region, what it is, a great rugby region. There’s a huge summer ahead and exciting times here as we embark on next season. Again, I thank the fans for their support.”
