Role Descriptions
For the 2008-09 season, girls’ regional rugby will be played out of five regions, Scarlets, Ospreys, Blues, Dragons and Gogledd. We are therefore looking to recruit volunteer team managers and coaches for the under 15s and under 18s in each region.
REGIONAL TEAM MANAGER
Responsible to: Nicola Smith (Women’s Community Rugby Manager)
Responsible for: Regional team coaches
Regional team players
Responsibilities:
· Liaise between regional coaches, players and the WRU
· To ensure availability of training and playing kit
· To ensure adequate first aid cover at training and matches
· To liaise with WRU to ensure training facilities and match venues are available
· To ensure transport requirements are met
· To attend all training sessions and matches
· To ensure player attendance and punctuality at all training sessions and matches
· To ensure a register is kept at all training sessions
· To maintain training records
· To ensure all coaches, players and parents agree and adhere to the Code of Conduct in relation to fellow team members, opponents, team management, officials, generally set a good personal example in such matters and take appropriate action when necessary
· To ensure the Match Details and Results form is completed and posted after all games.
· To produce a match report for the web in conjunction with coaches
· To attend training as and when provided
· To attend end of season presentation
· To be a positive role model at all times.
Commitment: 20 hours per month in-season (1 evening per week training. Sunday afternoon matches)
REGIONAL HEAD COACHES
Responsible to: Nicola Smith (Women’s Community Rugby Manager)
Responsible for: Regional team players
Responsibilities:
· To implement a selection process which clearly informs players of the reasons for selection/non-selection and have an active role in squad/team selection
· Talent identification at club matches
· To prepare the squad for matches
· To produce an annual coaching plan and session plans which develop players’ technical and tactical skills and to achieve the player development criteria as lay down by the Elite department.
· To identify player strengths and weaknesses via a player review and provide opportunities for improvement (technical, tactical, fitness)
· To plan match day routines
· To advise team manager of training and match day requirements
· To attend all training sessions and matches
· To assist in the production of a match report for the web
· To ensure the highest standards of behaviour are maintained by all players in line with the Code of Conduct and set a good example in such matters
· To bring to the attention of the team manager any player in need of disciplinary action
· To maintain player records
· To nominate player of the year
· To attend end of season presentation
· To attend coach education workshops and seminars
· To be a positive role model at all times

REGIONAL ASSISTANT COACHES
Responsible to: Nicola Smith (Women’s Community Rugby Manager) & Regional Head Coach
Responsible for: Regional team players
Responsibilities:
· To assist in the preparation of the squad for all matches
· To assist in production of annual coaching plan and session plans
· To assist in identifying player strengths and weaknesses via a player review and provide opportunities for improvement (technical, tactical, fitness)
· Assist with squad/team selection
· Assist with talent identification at club matches

· WRU Level 2 coaching award or equivalent
· Evidence of Continued Professional Development
· 3 years coaching experience
· Ability to gain respect & commitment from players, coaches, and staff
· Excellent interpersonal skills
· Excellent communication and presentation skills
Desirable
· Any relevant qualifications related to coaching
· Previous experience of coaching women’s rugby
