CHARTERIS SIGNS FURTHER THREE YEAR CONTRACT
Newport Gwent Dragons are pleased to confirm that Luke Charteris has signed a further three-year contract with the region.
The twenty five year old Dragons lock, who won his ninth Welsh cap against New Zealand in the Autumn internationals last month, has brought a considerable 6 feet 9 inches to the Dragons line-out and is set to make his 89th appearance against Toulouse this weekend.
Luke has had an impressive season so far and is thrilled to remain at Rodney Parade. He said:
“It’s been a good season for the Dragons and I believe that we’ve started to show signs that the team is moving in the right direction. I was delighted to sign for another three years and am confident that there will be good times ahead.”
He added: “I enjoyed a great month with the Wales team and was pleased with the opportunity to build on that performance against Toulouse last weekend. While we put in a good performance away from home as a team we will be looking for a victory this weekend on our own patch.”
Newport Gwent Dragons Head Coach Paul Turner is delighted that Luke has put his faith in the region for a further three seasons.
“Luke been consistently good for the region and continues to impress in the boiler house of the second row. He’s a great line-out weapon with huge potential and we’re thrilled to have him here for a further three years,” said Paul.
“We feel that we have a nucleus of players here that will serve the region in years to come and Luke is a major part of this. It’s the time of year where recruitment talks are being held and hopefully we will add to Luke’s signing in the near future.”
