The Dragons scored a physcological blow against the Scarlets in last night's penultimate pool game in the WRU Reebok Regional U18 Champonship game at Abertillery Park.
The two sides are scheduled to meet each other on December 29th in this season's third place play off game at Llandovery.
So, with that in mind, The Dragons' gave themselves a huge lift by winning last night's contest 34-10 with four tries and 10 points from the boot of Danny Ellis.
Recently appointed coaches Greg Woods and Gareth Lintern were delighted with their side's performance and are understandably confident that the side can finish the season on a high at the Drovers Field next month.
Ieuan Coombes (2) and Nathan Buck scored tries in the first half with Ellis adding three conversions and a penalty for good measure.
After the interval there was a further try from Kyle Price with Ellis kicking a conversion and dropping a goal. High performance manager Ron Shottle said, "It was great to see the boys playing with such confidence and finishing off their good work. Rhys Jenkins stood out for me - he was outstanding in a very good all round display."
Meanwhile the Blues defeated the Ospreys in a dress rehearsal for the final - 25-22 at Jenner Park, Barry.
Tries from captain Jake Thomas, Christian Dacey and Lloyd Williams and three conversions and a penalty from Joe Deacon was just enough to edge out the Ospreys who trailed 15-12 at the interval.
Ryan Bayliss and Rory Pitman bagged two tries apiece with Daniel Biggar adding a conversion to keep the Ospreys wqithin touching distance.
However, it was not to be and the Blues held on thanks to a long range penalty from Ellis late in the game.
