Two late Edinburgh tries in the last ten minutes saw The Dragons lose after it looked likely they were on course for a victory when Hal Luscombe scored midway through the second half. However, tries from Francisco Leonelli and Simon Webster consigned The Dragons to their fourth Celtic League defeat of the season.
Craig Warlow ensured The Dragons had a bonus point after scoring a try in injury time.
There was further bad news for coach Paul Turner as the injury list for The Dragons mounts. Adam Black is suffering with a knee injury while David Maddocks took a bang to the elbow during the match and Hal Luscombe picked up a thumb injury which could rule him out of the Dragons opening Heineken Cup matches and Wales’ autumn series.
The first half saw Edinburgh enjoy the run of play as they cut through The Dragons defence with surprising ease only try saving tackles from Leigh Hinton and Luscombe denied Edinburgh.
At half time it was 3-3 as each side exchanged penalties. The second half saw The Dragons more galvanised in attack with Gough providing good lineout ball and Owen and Cooper leading The Dragons attack. In a move that saw Owen spread the ball and Sweeney take the attack on Charteris surged forward and passed to Wyatt who drew the last defender before Luscombe scored in the corner. Warlow missed the conversion from the touch line. However, within six minutes of the try Edinburgh scored the first of their two tries before adding the second which sealed the win for the home side.
