Munster got on the score board first with a penalty from Ronan O’Gara before Mick O’Driscoll scored a try. The Dragons struck back first with a penalty from Sweeney before hooker Steve Jones was pushed over the line to cut Munster’s lead to just two points at half time.
Anthony Foley extended Munster’s lead with a try before The Dragons responded with the try of the match from Kevin Morgan which was converted by Sweeney to give the visitors the lead. However, O’Gara slotted over two penalties and Jerry Flannery’s injury time try kept Munster’s unbeaten record at Thomond Park in tack.
Speaking after the game Dragons coach Paul Turner commented, “It could have gone either way at one stage. We played some good football and frustrated Munster but they are a good side. Our set piece held up well. We’re always going to play a bit of football and we probably scored one of the tries of the season.”
