Newport Gwent Dragons have today confirmed that Ross Beattie will be leaving the club by mutual agreement.

Chief Executive for The Dragons, Andy Marinos stated, "Ross has been a valued member of the squad and has already been capped at international level and holds strong international aspirations. He felt that the limited opportunities he was receiving with The Dragons was hampering those ambitions. As a consequence Ross requested an early release from his contract. After considering all options we have decided to give him an early release. Our club policy is that we work with people as people first rather than solely as rugby players and if a player is not happy at the club or feels that he is not benefiting from being at the club and improving as a player then we do not stand in the player’s way of a move. Whilst we are sorry to be losing a player of Ross’s calibre it is an amicable decision that is based on human relations. We wish him all the best for his future and thank him for the past 18 months he has spent at the club."

Ross joined The Dragons from Bristol Shoguns in the summer of 2003 when the regional side were formed.
